FORESTRY Commission community ranger Dave Baxter has led a team to save thousands of tadpoles and baby frogs from an untimely death.
A pond at Colliers Wood, Higher Folds, Leigh was running dangerously low in water. To help refill the pond Dave enlisted the help of local resident John Chadwick and his family.
Dave explained: "We have had a very dry couple of months and the water levels where dangerously low. We decided to fill the pond up with tap water
as it was the only way to save the tadpoles.
"It took the four of us over an hour to fill the pond with buckets of water.
"We must have carried well over 100 buckets. Hopefully it has been worth it and the tadpoles will be happy in their improved home."
