MORE than one in six households in the north west receives junk mail to deceased family members, a survey has revealed.
The research was undertaken by the Direct Marketing Association and environment group Planet Ark, as part of an initiative to cut down on unsolicited mail.
It also found that 55 per cent of householders in the north west were angered by receiving mail addressed to previous occupants.
The initiative is also promoting a new website www.ControlYourPost.com to help members of the public take action to reduce unwanted or distressing mailings, including how to register with the mailing preference service.
