RADCLIFFE Rotary Club members were in attendance for a special presentation of the 2004 Rotary International Award for World Understanding and Peace.

The award, along with a $100,000 donation, was presented to Colin Parry, whose son Tim was killed during the IRA bombing of Warrington in 1993. Jonathan Ball (3) was also killed in the attack that wounded 56 other victims.

Mr Parry initially received the award during a ceremony in Osaka, Japan, in recognition of his work in creating a non-profit organisation named after his son.

The ceremony held on Tuesday gave members of the rotary clubs in the UK a chance to meet him and see the award handed over.

The £3.3 million Tim Parry/Jonathan Ball Peace Centre is based in Warrington -- a centre for peace education for youngsters.

In addition to being chairman of the trust, Colin Parry is a member of the Rotary Club of Warrington.
