A KITTEN was rescued by firefighters from a burning house and given first-aid by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Rescuers were called to the terraced house in Cateaton Street, Bury, shortly after 7pm on Wednesday when neighbours spotted flames in the front living room. The owner of the property was out at the time.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house through a back door and found the kitten in the kitchen. It was taken outside and handed over to an ambulance crew who gave the kitten oxygen.
The blaze, which is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette, badly damaged the lounge, with smoke damage to the remainder of the property.
