LORRAINE Wagstaff has let the Euro 2004 soccer championships go to her head!

For her usual auburn crowning glory has been dyed red and white to mirror the distinctive colours of the St George's flag.

Not only is she backing England in the football tournament, but is also supporting fundraising at Whitefield's Elmhurst Nursing Home where she works.

Lorraine (38) had her hair dyed yesterday to help boost the Whalley Road nursing home's amenity fund. Sponsorship cash collected will fund days out and other activities for the 16 permanent residents.

Colleague Stephanie Berry explained: "We needed to raise the money. Someone suggested that as England are taking part in the Euro 2004 championships, Lorraine could have her hair dyed in the St George's colours.

"Given that she will have this for the duration of the tournament, we just hope England don't get knocked out early on!"

Lorraine, who lives in Whitefield, spent several hours at Bury College's hairdressing department having her hair dyed by student Angela Lettin.
