EX-serviceman David Joseph proudly wore his medals during D-Day celebrations.

The 76-year-old, from Whitefield, was part of a group representing the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (AJEX) at a special commemoration service at Manchester Cathedral.

Mr Joseph joined up at the age of 16 as a volunteer at the start of the Second World War and ended up a Major in the Special Operations Executive (SOE).

During his service, Mr Joseph, who is a vice chairman of AJEX, was awarded the Military Cross and the Military Medal.

The cathedral service on Sunday (June 6) was organised in conjunction with the Imperial War Museum and featured D-Day stories from veterans.
