TWO walks to guide people around new 'Tacklers Trails' in Nelson and Brierfield will be held this weekend.

The trails, aimed at linking the community, the canals, and the cotton industry, are named after mill overlookers and have been created as part of a Canal Corridor Development Strategy project expected to be complete in 2005, and extended to Colne in 2006.

The main 'Tacklers Trail' is a linear route along the canal from Hawks House Bridge, in Brierfield, to Barrowford Locks.

Five circular walks will come off the main trail, including the two to be explored this weekend -- the Tunstill Trek, named after the main cotton manufacturers in Brierfield, and the Weavers Walk in Whitefield and the Walton Way.

Bill Clegg will lead a walk around the Tunstill Trek from Lob Lane Bridge in Clitheroe Lane, Brierfield, tomorrow (Saturday), and Whitefield resident Sylvia Wilson will lead the Weaver's Walk from Lomeshaye Bridge, Lomeshaye Road, on Sunday. Both walks start at 2pm.
