THIS year's Radcliffe Civic Cup competition was played at Openshaw Park number two green which was in wonderful condition.
Eight top bowlers contested the final stage out of a entry of 67 bowlers.
Game of the quarter-final was between Super League bowler, Ian Turrell and young Paul Gaffney with Ian scraping through 21-20.
Paul missed many opportunities to score two at many ends and two always wins games.
Terry Lytham had a comfortable win over Bob Walker. Barry Hardman had a struggle with John Blades who at one stage was 14-1 down but fought back to lose 21-18.
Tommy Taylor beat teammate Clive Chapman 21-16 after Clive lead most of the game.
The semi-finals were a little one sided with both Tommy and Terry showing their vast experience with 21-12 -- 21-13 wins. The final was evenly matched level pegging until Terry found a mark over the crown which Tommy couldn't master and ran out a convincing winner 21-15.
The league would like the thank Openshaw for their kind hospitality and Alan and Mary Greenhalgh, for card marking.
