SIDECAR racer Dave Holden is in hot pursuit of the EMRA and Aintree Championships -- thanks to a new radiator set-up on his Ireson-Honda.
After experiencing overheating problems this season, the Great Harwood-based multiple champion experimented with a new cooling system at Mallory Park.
And the results were impressive, with Holden and passenger Graham Holgate winning both six-lap races -- and recording the fastest lap -- at the Leicestershire track.
"We've been suffering from a loss of power all season because the engine has been running too hot," explained Holden.
"But by putting a bigger radiator and cooling pipes in, we've reduced the 90-degree temperatures by 20 per cent and the difference was obvious straight away.
"The engine is much more responsive and will certainly make a difference on the faster circuits where power is at a premium."
Favourite to retain their EMRA sidecar title, Holden and Holgate are on Mersyeside this weekend chasing points for the prestigious Ace of Aintree series.
Dave Holden is sponsored by HGV repair specialists CMS of Whitebirk, Blackburn; Silkolene Oils, and THG Motor Bodies of Longridge.
