A TEENAGER who stabbed a man three times during an incident in Blackburn has been sentenced to four and a half years youth custody.

Victim Michael Glancy's wounds included one that penetrated to a depth of eight centimetres and almost lost his life after the attack, in January.

Martin Simm, 19, of Peridot Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent.

Three other young men, who admitted affray, were all given community based sentences at Preston Crown Court.

Mr Jememy Lasker, prosecuting, said that the incident in the Gretna Walk area of Blackburn brought Mr Glancy, 20, down from a flat to go to the aid of his father-in-law.

Simm drew a knife used it to stab Mr Glancy three times. He was wounded in the shoulder, puncturing his lung and kidney.

Scott Allison, 21, of Cornelian Street, Blackburn, received three years community rehabilitation and 100 hours community punishment; Sean Threlfall, 19, of Regents View, Blackburn, was ordered to do 80 hours community work, while Matthew Ashton, 18, of Princes Street, Blackburn was placed on two years community rehabilitation.
