PENDLE Council has reassured residents in Brierfield that their views on how Government regeneration money will be spent are being listened to.
The council is currently consulting people in the Brierfield canal corridor area and the North Valley area of Colne, which will be the first places to benefit from the £12million funding given to the borough under the Government housing market renewal programme, Elevate.
Earlier this year the proposals drawn up by consultants, which included the demolition of 128 homes in the Clitheroe Road and Holden Road areas, caused outrage among residents. A public consultation, which is still on-going, was launched by the council.
At a meeting of the council's Executive Committee local resident Audrey Westwell asked which houses were to be earmarked for demolition and which would be refurbished.
But council leader Alan Davies told her no decisions would be made until residents had been given the chance to have their say. "Your views are being listened to and will be seriously taken into account."
