I SEE that sanity has prevailed and an amnesty has been granted to ambulance, fire and police services regarding speeding fines when emergencies occur.
Now I understand perfectly when ambulance and fire services are doing their best to save lives, but when anyone dials 999 and asks for the police, how long does it take for action to be taken?
If one rings and says a burglary is in progress you can be told that the service is so busy that it will be at least 20 minutes before anyone can come.
But ring again and tell them not to bother as you have just shot him and I guarantee that a full squad of cars will be at your door within minutes.
Incidentally, why are police cars immune from blaring their sirens between the hours of 11pm and 7am? Quite a few times I have been woken from my slumber by this sound.
