A NEW park ranger has made her way to Ramsbottom to help improve security in the area's parks.

Amy Leach will be based at the bowling hut based in Ramsbottom's Nuttall Park and will have a presence in Town Meadow.

She will carry out regular foot patrols to provide reassurance, promote safety , and establish a volunteer ranger service, youth ranger service, a gardening club and a park watch scheme.

Kim Griffiths, Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor area co-ordinator, said: "Amy will have a number of responsibilities that will help improve the parks.

"She will be monitoring usage and involvement with parks and will be involved with site management and maintenance.

"She will help attract external funding and promote parks in school as an educational resource.

"A main part of her role will be to encourage community involvement by helping to organise community action days, working with the area boards and to organise events in the parks."

Various events have already been planned to take place this year. The first one, being held at Nuttall Park in a nature trail on Friday from 2pm-4pm.
