Accrington Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell says it's time to get tough.

Bell and Reds boss John Coleman have always had a friendly relationship with the players. But the 39-year-old admits the advent of professional football means they must now establish a whole new managerial regime.

"The players will find it a little bit different and perhaps difficult," Bell said.

"They are employed by Accrington Stanley to do everything that we say.

"It's a full-time job for them now, so some rules will be getting put down to them and hopefully they will abide by them.

"I think it will be totally different from what we've ever known before. The club will see a different me and John Coleman.

"We'll try to make it as entertaining and enjoying as possible, but there will be rules. It isn't going to be a cake-walk."

He added: "The players will be employed from 9am to 4pm training - they won't be away at 11 o'clock playing golf.

"It might be that full-time football's not for one or two people and they'll have to move on, but hopefully that won't be the case."

Meanwhile, Matt Doughty's move to Stanley is in limbo while talks are held between Coleman and the former Rochdale player's agent.

STANLEY management, players and two guest cricketers take on Accrington Cricket Club in a friendly 20-over cricket match at Thorneyholme Road tonight.

The game starts at 6pm and admission price is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
