Preston Muslim girls High School celebrated after receiving a glowing report from OFSTED inspectors.

The school provides pupils with superb spiritual and moral guidance and prepares pupils extremely well in their role as British Muslim women said the report.

Headteacher Mr Zahid Aziz, 47, said, "It was an excellent report, the entire school from the governors, trustees, teachers and pupils have all worked extremely hard to bring the school up to the present exemplary standard."

Mr Aziz, added, "I want this school to be at the heart of the community, and I don't just mean the Muslim community I mean the whole community."

Teacher governor Mrs Fatema Nakhuda said, "The parents, children, teachers, governors and staff should be congratulated for their dedication, hard-work and enthusiasm." The report also marvelled at the school's drive to promote tolerance, harmony and respect for other cultures and beliefs.

Pupils were portrayed as showing thoughtful consideration of issues in the light of teachings of different faiths including Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

Mrs Nakhuda said: "In these turbulent times we at Preston Muslim Girls' High School have endeavoured to inculcate positive, tolerant and liberal values in the girls that come here. The respect, tolerance and love of all mankind irregardless of race religion or creed are traits which we endlessly try to inculcate in our pupils."

Preston Muslim Girls' High School situated in the Deepdale area of Preston was established in 1989 and provides education to Muslim girls aged 11 to 16 years. Currently there are 111 girls on roll.

The school follows the framework of the National Curriculum and Islamic values are placed at the centre of pupils' learning, which is further extended, by an appropriate recognition and respect of the views of others.
