Players from around the region really let the talent speak for itself at our Asian Soccer Idol competition.

Forty-five youngsters aged between 6 and 15 took part in the event which was held with assistance from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council at Audley Sports Centre.

Purves Ali, of the Asian Sports Academy who helped organise the day told us, "The kids attitude was great. We had to limit the number of players so everyone could have a proper chance to show us their skills.

"They were all positive, enthusiastic and well behaved. I would like to thank everyone who took part."

Charles Jackson, a Football Development Coach who was in charge of the proceedings on the day said, "I was impressed with the turnout and the attitude of the youngsters who attended.

"It was well worth coming down to and the level of skill and control on display was there for all to see."

Of the forty-five kids 19 were chosen to go through to the next round which will then see that number reduced to the final twelve.
