ASTLEY and Tyldesley now have after-school and holiday club facilities catering for four to 12 year-olds and designed to help working parents and carers following SureStart backing from Wigan Council.

Busy Kids, run by Karen Jackson and Julie Gilman, is based at Astley St Stephen's. It is open from 3.15pm to 6pm during term time and from 8am to 6pm during holidays.

"The holiday club is open to all local children," explained Karen. "We have the Council and Surestart support because there were no such facilities in the area. We also hope to open up a similar club at St Ambrose in November." More details from 01942 200545 or 07821 705430.

In Tyldesley St George's Out of School Clubs offer breakfast, after school and holiday care starting at 7.30am and ending at 6.30pm.

The project is the brainchild of a voluntary management group. The holiday club is open to any child between four and 11 years -- not just St George's-Central pupils.
