PLANNING bosses have deferred an application for a new multi-million pound redevelopment of Fishergate Shopping Centre, Preston, because of congestion fears.
The development, FG2, would include an anchor store with 12 more shops and a multi-storey providing more than 600 car parking spaces.
But planning bosses at Preston City Council fear it could cause too many traffic problems.
Fishergate Shopping Centre Limited must now go back to the drawing board to look at alternative transport options including cycle tracks and encourage people to use buses by providing bus timetables in the centre.
It is expected to be discussed again at the next planning meeting on September 6.
