LANCASHIRE League club Colne launched their Floodlit Cricket Festival at The Horsfield last night.

Colne skipper Steve Woods, Nelson's Danny Kegg and the host club's wicketkeeper Dave Swarbrick were at last night's launch, pictured left, as representatives from the four participating teams - the hosts, Nelson, Burnley and Lowerhouse - were on hand to finalise the programme for the event which gets under way on August 30.

Fast and furious cricket action is promised with the tournament's finale being played on Friday, September 3 (5.30pm start).

The tournament programme is: Monday, August 30 - Under-17s tournament (start 1pm); Tuesday, August 21 - Nelson v Lowerhouse (start 5pm); Wednesday, September 1 - Colne v Burnley (start 5pm); Thursday, September 2 - Lancashire League Select XI v World XI (start 1.30pm); Friday, September 3 - Final (start 5.30pm).

Meanwhile, Lancashire League sides Accrington and Lowerhouse will be without their professionals for the last two weekends of the season. New Zealand all-rounders Tama Canning and Peter Fulton have both been called up to the Black Caps' A team tour of South Africa, which will take in three Tests and three one-day internationals.
