CRAFTY women will show their wares at a special Saturday market.

Hag Fold-based Crafts4Us are setting their stall out in Atherton town centre for weekend shoppers this Saturday with a variety of Christmas gifts - all made in Atherton.

Crafts4Us formed just over a year ago at the Dorset Road Community Centre, when the estate's 'right to learn' officer, June Winstanley, arranged a series of taster courses for locals. Now, there are 22 members with a wide range of abilities who make a variety of handmade goods including greeting cards, paintings, jewellery, tapestries, knitwear and bags.

Crafts4Us is strictly not-for-profit, with revenue from sales being invested back into Hag Fold's own 'cottage industry'.

Secretary Ellen Ainscough says: "We've come a long way in 12 months and we are all looking forward to the market on the eleventh. We've got presents to suit every budget and all tastes - and everything is hand made here in Atherton.

Members are multi-skilled, but we are always on the look out for more and they are welcome at Dorset Road on Thursday afternoons.''
