A DRUNKEN single mother sank her teeth into a police officer after being thrown out of a pub, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates were told how night shift worker Beverley Caine, 29, had wanted to get back into the premises to get her coat and purse, rowed with door staff and police became involved.
Caine did not recall biting the PC and her solicitor told the court the offence was "wholly out of character".
Caine, of Elisa Street, Burnley, admitted assault. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge and told to pay £50 compensation and £35 costs.
Mark Williams, defending, said Caine had been under the influence of drink and had admitted the offence even though she could not remember it.
She was restrained "quite forcibly" by police, manhandled and had been left with "any number of bruises".
He added that Caine regretted her behaviour, had never been involved in anything like it before and was unlikely to repeat it. Her conduct had been totally out of character.
