CHRIS Kamara has jumped on board the Robbie Blake bandwagon by urging Premiership strugglers to take a gamble on the Clarets striker in the transfer window.

Sky TV pundit Kamara this week announced Blake as the Coca-Cola Championship 'Powerade Player of the Month', following a hot streak in front of goal in November that brought the Clarets skipper three matchwinning goals in three successive weeks.

And Kamara, who managed Blake at Bradford City, insists the striker can still cut the mustard in the top flight.

He said: "I have always been a fan of Robbie's - which is why I signed him for Bradford when I was boss there - and I think it is a real shame he hasn't played in the Premiership on a consistent basis.

"Robbie had a tough time when he was in the Premiership with Bradford, but I think he deserves another chance.

"He is a quick and clever player who never looks out of his depth when he is playing against Premiership sides in the Cup.

"Steve Cotterill made a masterstroke when he made Robbie captain at Burnley this season.

"Before that he could be a bit wayward, but he has taken on more responsibility and Burnley are reaping the rewards.

"If Palace were looking for a partner for Andy Johnson, or another club in the lower tier of the Premiership wanted a striker, I would advise them to take a gamble on Robbie."
