Canoeists rescued a colleague who fell into a weir.
The group were canoeing on the Irwell beside Railway Street in Ramsbottom at noon when the man was thrown from his craft. The group led him to the bank until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Fairfield Hospital and treated for hypothermia and water ingestion. Fire sub-officer Alan Senior said: "The canoeists did a brilliant job in rescuing him."
