DETECTIVES were today searching for the spot where sex fiends sexually assaulted a woman after abducting her in a Burnley street.

The victim, 43, was walking in Plumbe Street when two men forced her into the back of a dark hatchback car.

She has told police she was taken to a secluded spot where she was seriously assaulted - but the exact location remains a mystery.

And officers were trying to find where the attackers took the woman after she was taking at about 1am on Monday.

They have been scouring CCTV footage and appealed for witnesses who saw the dark hatchback to come forward to help trace the terrifying journey.

The victim, who was walking home from a night out, was dumped near the Inn on the Wharf, Manchester Road, at about 2.30am. She was wearing blue three-quarter length jeans and a black jacket.

One attacker was said to be white, aged 30, 5ft 6ins to 7ins tall, slim to medium build, with shoulder-length, wavy dark hair. He wore jeans and a dark shirt. The second was also white, in his mid-40s, 5ft 5ins, with a large beer belly and a Liverpool accent.

Detective Inspector Dermott Horrigan said: "This was a nasty attack and we need to catch these men. We need to identify the location of the offence.

"I would appeal for anyone who saw the car, the victim or the offenders, and anyone who may know who the offenders are, to get in touch."

Anyone with information should call Burnley police on 01282 425001 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
