BACUP Borough and Colne kick-off the New Year with a bang with a derby at West View on Monday.

And while Colne manager Nigel Coates has been impressed by his counterpart Brent Peters' recent signings, which include former Manchester United players David May and Ben Thornley, he admits his players don't fear them.

"I'm sure they'll be looking forward to playing against the ex-professionals they've got. And I think Brent hit the nail on the head when he said other sides would raise their game against Bacup because of who they've got there," Coates said.

"I dare say Brent would have expected to be a bit higher than they are in the league but they've had a bit of a dodgy run recently.

"With the players they've got though they're capable of beating any side in the league and possibly higher. We've got to make sure we're not one of those teams."
