"WE'RE not getting the results we deserve." That's the message from Accrington Stanley's Andy Procter.

But the midfield motivator is confident their luck will turn as they usher in the New Year.

Since the season kicked off in August, Stanley have only twice recorded back-to-back wins. The first was towards the end of the month when a midweek 1-0 win at York City came after a 4-0 thrashing of Crawley Town at the Interlink Express Stadium. They were followed up on 11 and 18 September with a 5-0 demolition of Dagenham and Redbridge then a 2-1 win at home to Leigh RMI.

Stanley haven't been able to sustain such potent form, but Procter is confident that will change in 2005.

"At the minute, we're not getting the results we deserve even though we've been putting in some good performances. But, at the end of the day, the results are what matters because we've got to start picking up points," the 21-year-old said.

"We've got to the stage now I think where performances can go out of the window as long as we can get the wins. We don't care how scrappy we need to be.

"For the first 45 minutes we played well on Tuesday but didn't come away from Gravesend with the win because we sat back in the second half.

"We need to get back to being hard to beat like we were last season and start keeping more clean sheets.

"The aim for the New Year has got to be to start climbing the league and get into the play-offs."

And Procter is hopeful that Monday's televised trip to promotion rivals Halifax Town (kick-off 12.05pm) will prompt the beginning of a change in fortunes for John Coleman's Reds.

"We got a good result there last year. I thought they were pretty good last season and they've carried that over into this year to lie fifth at the moment," he said.

"But we always seem to do well against the better teams.

"As long as we can start well we've got every chance of getting a result because we've got good players like Rory Prendergast and Lee McEvilly who can cause them problems.

Procter, who scored in Stanley's first Conference game at Aldershot last season live on Sky Sports, added: "It's good to be on Sky again, and another goal for the cameras would be nice.

"It would be nice to chip in with more goals, and I keep working on finishing in training, but that's not why I'm in the side so it's not a side of my game that I worry about too much.

"I'm in the team to break things up and be horrible to play against."

And Procter said he was feeling stronger than ever after missing the first two months of the season with cruciate knee ligament damage.

"It took me a bit to get going once I came back from injury," he said.

"I'm just pleased to be playing again, and the fact I've started the last 12 games is a bonus - it shows I must be doing something right.

"I think I've been quite consistent but I've still got more to give, and most of the lads will probably feel the same about themselves."
