I READ with some disbelief and amusement your article (LET, January 10) featuring residents in Darwen who, for a short period, lost their electricity supply following the recent gale force winds.
It must have been awful for two days to have to walk around by candlelight or use a torch or reach in their cupboards to pull on a few extra jumpers to keep warm or have to boil a pan of water on the gas stove or even worse, stay at a friend's house.
They should spare a thought for the tsunami victims who have lost their homes, livelihoods and loved ones and are now, if they are lucky, living in makeshift tents on the middle of highways -- how will they seek recompense?
It somewhat pales the plight of the Darreners making a bit of money claiming compensation into insignificance.
