BURNLEY'S unsung sporting stars will be recognised under a new award scheme.
Clarets boss Steve Cotterill helped kickstart the Sporting Colours Awards, highlighting the work of volunteers at clubs and events.
Sports clubs and community groups across Burnley have been contacted and asked for their nominations for deserving coaches, volunteers, young stars, with a special recognition award also to be included. The winners will go through to a county-wide competition.
Rosehill with Burnley Wood councillor, Colette Bailey, who helped launch the scheme, said: "The awards are given to community members who are put forward by their clubs as being the people who have achieved most.
"It doesn't have to be the best footballer but the one who has achieved most for the club. The clubs put forward who they feel is their sporting champion."
