COLNE were cursing their luck after getting nothing from a game they largely controlled.

Two controversial incidents changed the game.

First James Webster's dipping inswinging corner appeared to be well over the line but the referee allowed play to continue. Then a goalbound shot from Newcastle was cleared by Chris Ingham on the line.

But, despite the ball not having crossed the line, the referee awarded a goal.

Colne had numerous chances and Town were hanging on until four minutes from time.

The visitors' failed to deal with a long ball and Newcastle sealed the game with a tap-in.

The frustration of the afternoon came out when Steve Cunningham received a straight red card in the dying minutes.

down field to relieve the pressure looked harmless until both Richard Close and Baxter hesitated to allow a simple tap in and put the game out of the Reds reach.

Colne manager Nigel Coates will be looking for a change of luck next week as the Reds make the long trip to Bodmin Town in the FA Vase.
