THE Prestwich Co-op Camera Club members are not backwards in expressing their opinions when they are given a chance. Such a chance was given to them on Tuesday evening.

The primary reason for the discussion evening was to decide on a suitable place to meet on the evening of June 14. On that evening there will be an outdoor shoot when members can take advantage of the lighter nights and take some photographs around a particular area.

They have been arranging these midsummer evenings for many years now and they often produce some very good prints and slides by catching the evening light.

Several places in and around Radcliffe were first suggested but it was suggested that the area was not very picturesque. Sites further afield were suggested and the Castlefield area in Manchester finally met with approval from the majority.

Various subjects were then introduced. The chairman, Vernon, asked what progress had been made in the audio-visual sequence about the visit to the Manchester Ship Canal last year. He was assured that some slides had still to be collected before a final selection can be made of which to use.

There was some talk about the problems some members had with cameras and this opened up several amusing tales as people remembered their experiences. Somehow, this led to the information about how a pub in Manchester got its name from some Leicestershire potatoes and how it was shortened to bring it up-to-date. Another piece of information given out was that all Kodak film now goes to Switzerland to be processed. It is surprising what can be learned from talking!

On Tuesday there will be the usual monthly assignment for prints and slides. Members will be the judges for all the entries so bring them along and/or join in the judging. Come along to the side door of the Bridge Methodist Hall, behind Radcliffe Library between 7.30 and 8pm.
