Dangerous drugs stolen

9:50am Monday 22nd March 2010

DANGEROUS drugs have been stolen in a raid on an Atherton medical centre.

Glass vials and syringes were also snatched from The Atherton Centre, York Street, on Saturday.

Now police have appealed to anyone offered or finding the drugs to hand them in at the nearest police station.

Staff who arrived at work discovered the building had been broken into and prescription medicine labelled Olanzapine, Depixol, Clopixol, Oranzapine, Haldol, Clozaril, Aripiprazole, Risperidol, Quietiapine, Citalopram and Procyclidine had been removed from a cabinet. .

All this medication can prove extremely dangerous to both children and adults if taken - and in some cases can be fatal.

Police Sgt Edward Barker said: "These tablets, if taken, could kill a child and even an adult. It is vital that if anyone comes across this medication that they do not consume any of the tablets and hand them into police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
