NINE community groups are celebrating after sharing in an £80,000 windfall.
The Bigger Picture Arts Project has been given £10,000 to launch a weekly film-making club for young people across Bolton.
The cash will pay for video, lighting and sound-recording equipment.
Organiser Nigel Tomlinson said: “We’re delighted. Thefunding helps us bring everything we want to do together like pieces of a jigsaw.”
Another group to benefit is the Tonge Moor-based Amphibian and Reptile Group, which will get £9,997 to carry out surveys that will help protect creatures.
A youth organisation called South East Matters has been awarded £10,000 to lay on after-school and weekend sports sessions for children in places like Farnworth and Kearsley.
The Near Us Education Centre in Wood Street, Bolton, will get £9,471 to provide craft activities, while Derby Ward Labour Association Club and Institute in Deane Road will get £8,837 to revamp the building.
Bolton Multicultural Integration Group can lay on health, education and employment advice sessions across the town thanks to a £3,640 grant and the Irish Elders group can spend £9,950 on running welfare clinics four times a month for older people.
The final two groups to get cash are Bolton FM’s Community Interest Company, which will get £9,213 to improve the radio station and the Diversity in Barrier-Breaking Communications group based at Bolton Market will get £8,870 to help it run broadcast courses.
Big Lottery Fund North West manager Helen Bullough said: “It’s great to see such a wide range of groups benefiting. Here’s hoping these awards give fresh inspiration to others.”
