BOLTON bus driver Kevin Halstead has won £2.3million on the lottery.

Kevin, who has been at the wheel of the 125 bus bewteen Bolton and Preston for the last 17 years, was visiting his mother Joyce when he learnt about his good fortune.

His first reaction was to hug her and say: "Do you want a bungalow?"

The 46-year-old later realised he'd won £2,302,668, a half share in Saturday's Lotto jackpot.

"My first 3 numbers are for my daughter's birthday, mine and my partner Josie's. The rest I just made up."

Liverpool fan Kevin, who lives in Chorley, celebrated his win by visiting Anfield for Monday night's victory against Portsmouth and said he would now buy a season ticket and would like to meet the players.

Kevin, who is employed by Stagecoach ,said he would be taking a month or two off, but intended to return to work, possibly part-time.

As for a busman's holiday, he said he and Josie would be applying for passports as Josie had never been abroad in her life.
