A FOOTBALL commentator will visit Bury FC when he hits the road to raise money for Sport Relief.
Ian Cheeseman, who grew up in Radcliffe, will use pedal power tomorrow for a 90-mile tandem bike ride.
The BBC Radio Manchester journalist will tour all nine of the professional football clubs covered by the station.
He will arrive at Gigg Lane at 12.30pm tomorrow and hopes Bury FC fans and Sport Relief fundraisers will be there to cheer him on.
Ian, aged 50, will be joined by Barney Storey, a tandem pilot in the Paralympics, who will sit at the front of the bike.
They will set off from Macclesfield Town at 8.30am and visit Stockport County, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale, Bury, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Manchester United and Manchester City. They hope the challenge will raise £500 for the Sport Relief appeal, which helps poor and vulnerable people around the world.
Ian, who now lives in Royton, Oldham, said: “Two years ago I ran 30 miles between the four Premier League football clubs and decided to try a different challenge this time.
“I’m really looking forward to setting off. I haven’t trained specifically for it, but I do keep fit and go to the gym regularly. Although I feel very confident and relaxed now, I’m sure I’ll feel differently when we’ve covered 30 or 40 miles.”
