THE mother of a toddler killed by an out-of-control car in Accrington town centre has died.

Jackie Bloomer, 30, passed away tonight at Royal Preston Hospital, three days after the horrific crash which also took the life of her 18-month-old son Jayden.

The 89-year-old driver of the vehicle, Alfred Ernest Wray, also died following the smash in Eastgate, opposite the junction with Water Street.

After the car struck Mrs Bloomer, it then hit Jayden’s pushchair, pinning it against the corner of The Old Tannery building in Eastgate.

She suffered multiple injuries in the accident and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital before being transferred to Preston for more specialist treatment.

Throughout the past three days her husband Chris has kept a vigil at her bedside.

Police said that Mrs Bloomer, who is also the mother of six-year-old Declan, died at just after 8pm tonight.

Officers said her family had volunteered her organs for donation so that she could help others after her death.
