SUPER-FAST broadband that will improve links between digital firms across the North West will be hosted at the Burnley university campus.

The 100 megabits per second NorthernNET network has been set up at that campus and features work stations that can be hired out by local companies.

The sites will offer pay-as-you-go connections to the network, allowing large files to be sent at high speed via direct connection.

They will also provide a range of equipment for creation, editing, archiving and distribution of digital content.

Dr Martin Brown, director of the Burnley Campus, who was responsible for securing the NorthernNET network, said: “This technology allows digital and creative businesses to interact and collaborate at very high speed enabling them to compete and grow.

“NorthernNET will greatly benefit companies and will ensure that they are at the forefront of the digital revolution.”
