During the half term holidays, Haworth Art Gallery was a hive of activity as local youngsters and their families were invited to make bird boxes.
The event was held to promote the Local Nature Reserve development at Woodnook Vale and spark off interest in nature amongst local children.
On show was the bird survey which the Baxenden Community Forum have been instrumental in putting together.
Over the past 12 months over 70 species of bird have been seen along Woodnook Vale including Kestrel, Grey Heron and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
The bird box making was very popular with around 30 children and adults coming along to have a go with Lancashire County Council Countryside Rangers, Prospects Foundation staff and volunteers leading the way.
Each family took away a bird box for their own back garden or yard and a few were kept for Woodnook Vale.
Parent Elizabeth Ashworth said: “The children had a brilliant time making the bird box and we are looking forward to attending more events in the future”.
