CLITHEROE Health Centre is not expected to reopen until next Thursday or Friday after health bosses said damage caused by a fire was worse than they expected.
NHS East Lancashire said repair teams were working 'flat out' and would work over the weekend to restore electricity supplies after the £2m building’s lighting, heating, IT and telephone systems were knocked out by the blaze on Tuesday.
However, when that work is completed deep-clean teams will have to move in before staff can return to work and services can be restored.
Patients are being asked to ring the centre’s old general telephone number, 01200 413500, but only for important or urgent business.
For general information the public can ring an information helpline on 01282 644891 or 01282 644889.
The PCT immediately closed the centre's two GP surgeries and treatment room following the fire.
The Castle GP surgery has relocated to The Annexe, Railway View Road.
The surgery will be open from 8am to 6.30pm and its telephone number is 01200 444255.
The Pendleside GP practice has moved temporarily to Quex House, Railway View Road. It will also be open from 8am to 6.30pm and its contact number is 01200 458175.
The treatment room has moved to the Ribble Ward at Clitheroe Community Hospital, Chatburn Road. Its contact number is 01200 420614.
The midwifery service has moved to Ribblesdale Children’s Centre and the stop smoking service to the council chambers in Clitheroe.
Minor injuries are being dealt with at Accrington Victoria Community Hospital, while minor surgery has been temporarily cancelled.
Blood testing is being carried out at Clitheroe Community Hospital and the Warfarin services are continuing at the two practices’ temporary surgeries.
