Hundreds of children enjoyed hours of fun learning new skills and making new friends at Chorley’s annual Playday.
Families from around the borough descended on Coronation Recreation Ground, which was full to bursting with children enjoying a good days play.
Organisers estimated that more than 2,000 people took part in the free Chorley Council-organised event.
Councillor John Walker, Chorley Council’s Executive Member (People), went along to take part in the fun.
“It looked like everyone was having a great time and the recreation ground was absolutely full of children playing games,” he said.
“Playday always proves really popular and each year it seems to get better and better.
“There was plenty for people to do with sports games, a painting gallery and even a climbing wall.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came on the day for making it such a success.”
At lunchtime there was a parade and fly over by the RAF to mark the start of the event in style.
Playday, supported by the Chorley Play Partnership, is part of a national initiative aimed at promoting the importance of play.
Dozens of attractions lined the rec including circus skills, football, bowling, face painting, large board games and a Punch and Judy show.
