Parents in Chorley looking for fun activities to keep their children busy over the summer holidays can check out the new Get Up and Go brochure, which is out now.

Chorley Council’s hugely successful year-round free and low-cost activity programme is full of fun things to keep the kids occupied during the long summer break.

Whether it’s football and cricket or music making and photography there is something for everyone and this year we’ve even got activities for the parents and grandparents.

Councillor John Walker, Chorley Council’s Executive Member (People), said: “We’ve been working hard to make sure we provide even more activities this year and it promises to be the best summer yet to Get Up and Go.

“It’s ideal for parents who need ideas to keep the children busy during the summer holidays and it’s a great chance for them to make new friends and learn new skills.

“If you’ve not taken part before make sure you have a look at the brochure – most of the activities are free, which is even better.”

From Adlington to Clayton Brook and Coppull to Croston, activities are provided across the borough with the highlight of the summer the Street Games camp, which will give young people an opportunity to try a host of sports and join us at Manchester City Stadium at Sportcity for the North West Street Games 2009.

“The Get Up and Go brochure is available online or in the new edition of the Chorley Smile, which you can pick up in your local shop or one of the council buildings,” said Coun Walker.

“There is a new online booking system this year, which will make it easier to do everything on our website www.chorley.gov.uk/getupandgo.”

Bookings will start to be taken from Monday, July 6.
