BREAST cancer sufferers are to benefit thanks to a group of naked golfers.
Brave members of Dunscar Golf Club bared all to make a nude calendar and raise money for charity.
Now they have been able to hand over £10,000 to the Royal Bolton Hospital’s breast cancer unit.
Each month of the calendar features men from the club in compromising poses around the golf course and its clubhouse.
Club member Shirley Cain, aged 64, first suggested the idea as a joke at a social event in late 2007.
Soon afterwards she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
That’s when some of her fellow club members decided to take up her challenge to try to raise money to aid the fight against breast cancer.
Sales of the calendar have netted £10,000 which will be used to expand and modernise the hospital’s breast cancer unit.
Mrs Cain, of Bradshaw, who is now in remission, said: “The amount we have raised is wonderful and for the men to actually do this is fantastic.
“It’s the first time we have raised so much money for charity and the cause is so close to home, for me and other members, their families and friends.”
Neil Wharmby, development director of Dunscar Golf Club, said: “I think what we have achieved is absolutely tremendous and it will really give the breast cancer unit a boost.”
