STUDENTS in Bolton are going green . . .

Pupils from Bolton School, Westhoughton High School, Canon Slade School and Rivington and Blackrod High School are among youngsters involved in a new eco-friendly scheme.

Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s Trailblazers project encourages Bolton students to become involved in raising awareness of the environment within their community.

They do this by carrying out challenges such as improving recycling, cleaning up countryside, reducing their carbon footprint and doing conservation work.

The challenges are designed to encourage students to get involved in the natural world, and gives them experience of working with an environmental organisation.

The scheme is funded by youth volunteering organisation “v” and The Tellus Mater Foundation, and sees full-time volunteers as well as staff working with the youngsters.
