POLICE were called to the canal in Rishton after a suicidal woman in her early 20s told NHS staff she had slashed her wrists and was going to throw herself in.
The police helicopter and a negotiator were mobilised and the woman was found at 5pm on Tuesday.
She fled on foot but was stopped by officers and taken to a mental health unit.
She had been carrying a razor but had only sustained superficial injuries.
