DARWEN FC could be set to go out of business next week, league bosses said.

The closure would bring an end to 134 years of history at the club, which now plays in the Vodkat League Division One.

Two weeks ago the Lancashire Telegraph revealed owner Kevin Henry was considering putting the club into administration over a debt to a tool hire company.

In a statement released last night, Vodkat League bosses said Mr Henry had told them the club now faced a winding-up order in court on Wednesday and he had said the order would not be contested.

Vodkat League Chairman Dave Tomlinson said: “We are very concerned to hear Darwen FC is facing such difficulties, and it is our hope that a satisfactory outcome can be found.”
