SHE has spent all summer pushing herself to the limits in the wilds of Europe and now, ambitious cyclist Anna Lupton is on her way home.

But the 29-year-old athletics enthusiast hasn’t come to the end of her adventure just yet - the 2,000 mile ride home is set to take three weeks.

In May, Anna quit her job at the National Film Archive in Manchester and set off from her home in North Road, Prestwich, on a quest to reach Athens before cycling all the way back.

The challenge proved a little too ambitious as exhaustion and high temperatures took their tool, so Anna changed her route, taking in the sights of Croatia and Slovenia amongst others.

Speaking to the Guide from southern France this week,, she said she was still enjoying her adventure, but was looking forward to heading home.

She added: “I’m near Chambery in the French Alps. The scenery round here is just spectacular, I really love it. I’ve been looking at how much a place costs out here.

“I’ve been doing a lot of mountain races on foot and finished second in one and third in the other.

“I am now heading to do a small mountain race near Bonneville and then will pelt it home to avoid the encroaching cold weather. It should take about three weeks, so not long now and itll be back to home comforts.”
