A dangerous dog has been seized after reports that several people had been bitten in Chorley.

It was reported that a “dangerously out of control” dog was loose on Market Street, in the town centre on Wednesday (December 20).

Police received a call at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, stating that a dog had bitten several people.

A Belgian Malinois has been seized and enquiries are ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: “We know there has been some conversation around a reported dog that was dangerously out of control on Market Street in the Town Centre on Wednesday (December 20) so we would like to bring you an update.

“We received a call at 1:20pm on Wednesday to a report of a dog having bitten several people on Market Street in Chorley.

“Our officers attended and the dog, a Belgian Malinois has been seized. Further enquiries are ongoing.”
