A Burnley musician has organised a music festival to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society in honour of his grandma.

Greg Worden, 20, from Burnley organised the fundraising festival to double as a leaving do as he will be starting his first year of university at Cambridge in October, as well as an early 21st birthday party.

The event, REVIVE! 2023 will be held at The Loom in Bank Parade, Burnley tomorrow (September 1) from 12pm to 11pm.

The festival will feature a range of acts including acoustic solo acts from 1pm to 5pm, and a varied mix of bands from 5pm onwards.

Greg writes his own music and performs at venues including local pubs, this year’s Burnley Pride, as well as busking in town centres.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the event, the Indie artist said: “I had a conversation with the people who run the music venue at the start of the year saying I wanted to do something really big and I was thinking of doing a festival.

“My grandma was suffering from Alzheimer’s at the time so when she passed away in June, I thought I’ve got to commit to this and do something to raise money for the charity.

“I’ve been in contact with my old high school band and other friends I know. Some of the best people from music will be performing at the event.”

The lineup includes acts local to Burnley and parts of East Lancashire and as far as Bolton and Manchester.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Greg is going to study Theology, Religion, and Philosophy at Cambridge but will continue working on his music. His debut EP album, Life From 4-8 is being released on his birthday Thursday, September 7.

Greg said: “I want the festival to feel like one big party where people get together to do something really fun. It’s like a last hoorah doing music round here as well as doing something nice in memory for my grandma.

“All proceeds are going to the charity and it’s a pay what you feel event with the suggestion of £5 for the ticket.”
