PHILLIP Hall and Charlie Collinge of Clitheroe were commended after each gaining £2,500 funding to start community projects.

Phillip Hall obtained £2,500 from Lancashire County Council Youth Bank towards a mechanics project called Wheels Within Wheels.

This enabled 20 young people to gain new skills including basic mechanics and MOT checks.

All participants achieved an accredited AQA certificate.

Community worker Mel Diack said: "He managed this project from start to finish and meant giving up much of his spare time ."

Charlie Collinge used his funding to enable 40 young people to take part in an off-road biking course in Preston over a period of four months.

The course involved learning about safety, basic maintenance of bikes and riding properly.
