A DEPRESSED man took his brother's car and gave police his sibling's name after they stopped him, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how Imran Khan Azam, 20, who had no licence, was not insured and had cannabis on him was "exceptionally naive."
The defendant, of Elm Street, Nelson, admitted possessing cannabis, using an uninsured vehicle, driving without a licence and obstructing police.
He was given a community order with 150 hours' unpaid work, 12 months' supervision and eight penalty points.
Magistrates, who did not ask for costs, told him: "Please get rid of this drug habit."
Richard Taylor, defending, said Azam had been seeing a girl his family did not approve of.
He felt despondent and on the spur of the moment, took his brother's car.
