A CONVICTED burglar on the run from police was caught out when officers dialled his mobile number and heard itringing.
Wayne Joseph Banham, who was released early from a jail sentence for burgling his mother's home, has been returned to prison.
Police issued a wanted' notice for Banham, 37, of Rawtenstall, after he breached terms of his release.
They were checking addresses of known offenders but when nobody answered the door at a house in Burnley a sergeant rang his mobile.
Police raided the house after hearing the phone .
Banham was initially given a suspended sentence for the burglary but it was upgraded to a prison term after he breached the order.
Inspector John Clucas said: "I hope this reassures the public that we do make every effort to track down these people."
